13 Mar Celebrating Pioneer Women
During Women‘s History Month, we celebrate the accomplishments, tenacity and commitment of women past, present and future. One of our traditions on the City Council during this month is recognizing our city’s “Pioneer Women” and the important work they do. This year, we focused on celebrating women who are fighting to end domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking throughout Los Angeles. It was an honor to stand among these pioneering women – we are forever grateful for the work they do to make L.A. safer for all.
Our honoree was Karen Earl, CEO of Council District 10’s Jenesse Center, the oldest domestic violence intervention program in South Los Angeles. We also surprised Sharon Tso, the city’s first woman Chief Legislative Analyst, by naming her the City Council’s “Pioneer Woman of the Year”. Congratulations to all who took part in the ceremony and keep fighting the good fight!
