It’s official: Los Angeles will host the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games For the past two years, City Council President Wesson has worked closely with the City Council, Mayor Eric Garcetti and LA28 on preparations for the bid to host the 2028 Olympic Games. President Wesson chaired the Ad Hoc Committee on the 2024/2028 Summer Olympics and voted in favor of final approval of L.A.’s Host City Bid.

The historic decision awards Los Angeles the Summer Games for the third time and brings them back to the United States for the first time in 28 years. The bid focused on putting the athletes’ experience and sustainability at the heart of the Games. The City Council, together with the public, reviewed the Games Plan and focused on minimizing risk to the city and leaving a positive legacy for generations to come.
